Man and Woman
Victor Hugo
Man is the most elevated of creatures, Woman the most sublime of ideals.
God made for man a throne; for woman an altar.
The throne exalts, the altar sanctifies.
Man is the brain, Woman, the heart.
The brain creates light, the heart, Love. Light engenders, Love resurrects.
Because of reason Man is strong, because of tears Woman is invincible.
Reason is convincing, tears moving.
Man is capable of all heroism, Woman of all martyrdom.
Heroism ennobles, martyrdom sublimates.
Man has supremacy, Woman, preference.
Supremacy is strength, preference is the right.
Man is a genius, Woman, an angel.
Genius is immeasurable, the angel undefinable.
The aspiration of man is supreme glory,
The aspiration of woman is extreme virtue.
Glory creates all that is great; virtue, all that is divine.
Man is a code, Woman a gospel.
A code corrects, the gospel perfects.
Man thinks, Woman dreams.
To think is to have a worm in the brain,
to dream is to have a halo on the brow.
Man is an ocean, Woman a lake.
The ocean has the adorning pearl, the lake, dazzling poetry.
Man is the flying eagle, Woman, the singing nightingale.
To fly is to conquer space. To sing is to conquer the Soul.
Man is a temple, Woman a shrine.
Before the temple we discover ourselves, before the shrine we kneel.
In short, man is found where earth finishes, woman where heaven begins.

About English 11 (the Teaching of Speaking)

1.     What is your insight about English 11 subject in terms of subject content, lesson sequence, degree of difficulty/ease?
è As one of those who are taking English 11 (the Teaching of Speaking), it is not only an enthusiasm- provoking subject, it draws my interest and I always look forward for another day of activity-filled session. As far as subject content, lesson sequence and degree of difficulty/ ease is concerned, all I can say is that it’s meaningful/ enriching, organized to fit to our level of intellectual capacity as student-teacher.

2.     What can you say about your learning environment in terms of classroom appearance and functionality, location, noise level, light/ventilation?
è The learning environment is absolutely conducive to learning, therefore guaranteeing us of a smooth acquisition of relevant and substantial input, inasmuch as provision of a speech laboratory as our permanent venue for our classes was granted and provided. Hence, it serves as a factor to easy learning. All sessions are assured free from unnecessary noise, it is well- ventilated, too.

3.     What can you say about your classmates in terms of attitude towards others, subject, group work?
è My classmates always have good attitude towards this subject, they don’t actually commit absenteeism except exigencies arise.  It’s for the reason that they know, being on the subject under teacher Marian is a great privilege to develop the skills and competencies needed as a would-be teacher specializing on the English language. The subject also provides opportunities to our social dimension wing to many interactive activities afforded to us, thus, it drives my classmate to be participative in class.
4.     What can you say about your teacher in terms of teaching style, lesson delivery, and rapport/attitude towards each students, communication skills, personality and manner of dressing, classroom management?
è Teacher Marian is exceptionally gifted with the skills in communication and articulation that stunned me every time she speaks before the class. Moreover, she has the ability to bridge the gap between our strength and our flaws through establishing rapport between her and students. She has also the capacity to hold the class to discipline without exerting much effort for everything is completely routinized. Teacher Marian also shows flexibility and versatility in teaching; easily shifts from one teaching style to another to fit to the level, condition and ambiance of learning.
5.     What can you say about yourself in terms of attitude towards content of subject, level of understanding of the lessons, level of improvement in skills?
è After months on this subject I find myself hooked up to every topic being discussed every meeting. This is manifested on my attitude towards the content of this subject; I am looking forward to attending the class every Wednesday. Actually, I always dream to become an eloquent speaker and communicator and that aspiration is my motivation to giving the most of my ability to this subject. I am much hopeful that I can imbibe all its enriching content that could possibly be gotten. As to evaluating my level of improvement in skills, I can say that I improved in terms of the level of confidence, perhaps.
6.     What is/are your recommendation/s?
è For me, there’s no room for recommendation since all of us are doing great in the subject. However, if I will be compelled to, I recommend that we are to be given a seminar on Effective speaking taking into account grammar and with emphasis to correct usage of the English Language. Certainly, this will be of utmost help not only to develop our skills in communication but also to boost our self-confidence and self-regard as we speak in an eloquent manner.

What is this word that all of us have been mystified? The word that can cause pain, misery and woundedness; yet for others brings inspiration, courage and vigor. It's LOVE.

This drawing presents my understanding of the poem by Kahlil Gibran on "LOVE". In order to attain the fullness of love, we must not forget its numerous denominators. For love to thrive, it  necessitates trust, passion, honesty, care, respect and tolerance. When one loses love, it could hardly be restored. all aforementioned denominators need to be reconstituted before love may blossom again.

Kahlil Gibran's Poem that Strikes Me Most

On Children
 Kahlil Gibran
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

RAP about the Gibran's Poem about "ON CHILDREN"

On children
We are the children of the world,
the children of hopeful tomorrow,
born with definite purpose,
born with certain goal,
to live our lives as sons and daughters of Christ.

We are the children of the Lord,
beings who share in God’s divinity,
the greatest creature He has ever created
wholly originated; wholly would return to Him
In life infinite in our eternal repose.

Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) - Gibran / Jibran - Khalil or Kahlil, Arabic name Jubrãn Khalil Jubrãn

Lebanese-American philosophical essayist, novelist, mystical poet, and artist. In the 1960s Gibran's works influenced especially American popular culture; his most famous book, THE PROPHET (1923), has been a bestseller from the 1920s. Gibran believed that if a sensible way of living and thinking could be found, people would have mastery over their lives.
"The human heart cries out for help; the human soul implores us for deliverance; but we do not heed their cries, for we neither hear nor understand. But the man who hears and understands we call mad, and flee from him."

Gibran's best-known work is THE PROPHET, a partly autobiographical book of 26 poetic essays, which has been translated into over 20 languages. The Prophet, who has lived in a foreign city 12 years, is about to board a ship that will take him home. He is stopped by a group of people, whom he teaches the mysteries of life. The resulting 26 sermons are meant to emancipate the listeners. In the 1960s The Prophet became a counterculture guide and in the 1980s the message of spiritualism overcoming material success was adopted by Yuppies. Critics have not treated the book well. Its mystical poetry is frequently read at weddings even today. Gibran's other popular books include THE EARTH GODS (1931), a dialogue in free verse between three titans on the human destiny.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Sing and dance together and be joyous,
but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone
though they quiver with the same music.
(from The Prophet: Marriage)

Love
Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."
And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them.
And with a great voice he said:
When love beckons to you follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant;
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.
All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.
But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."
And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.
Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

An Essay based on Kahlil Gibran's Poem about LOVE

LOVE
Oftentimes, you will hear people say, “Love is painful!” others would say, "Love is wonderful!” But, I wonder if you have ever asked them or have ever asked yourself, what makes love painful or wonderful. Well, the thing I believe about love is that, as long as we live, we continue to love and be loved. Painful, at times it may be, love makes us strong to withstand emotional pressures and pains. A person who feels hurt because of love possesses a personality with a tinge of vigor and valor for a pain caused by love tests not only your emotional stability but also mortal constancy.
A person must not be afraid to love because it pains nor it renders his heart wounded. He loves truly when he ventures a path less traveled by with a thorny road. Even how steep a mountain; even how deep is an ocean; even how high a wall; even how it aches, love can conquer every constraint, hurdles every challenges and vanquish gargantuan predicaments that keep him away from those whom he certainly loves.
